Introduction
The LAX-FDU-14 is a high-performance fire detection unit designed for WAG-9, 3-phase AC electric locomotives. It acts as an early warning system, detecting fire hazards at an initial stage by analyzing smoke particles using a high-quality opto-electronic fire sensing system with high response sensitivity.
System Overview
The LAX-FDU-14 is an aspirating-type smoke detector equipped with an advanced air suction mechanism that draws air from various locomotive compartments for analysis. In case of fire or malfunction, the unit alerts the driver through a visual indicator on its front panel and simultaneously activates fault and alarm contacts to notify the master computer system.
The rugged metallic enclosure is designed to withstand the stress, vibration, and harsh operating conditions inside a locomotive. The system complies with international and railway standards, ensuring full EMI and EMC compatibility.
