Introduction
The Distributed Power Wireless Control System (DPWCS) is designed for conventional Tap Changer Electric Freight Locomotives and Three Phase AC Electric Freight Locomotives of Indian Railways. It enables seamless wireless communication between the Lead Locomotive (HOT) and Trailing Locomotives (EOT) in a Multiple Unit (MU) setup using RF communication.
System Overview
- The Lead Loco detects traction and braking operations performed by the Loco Pilot and transmits them to all Trail Locos through wireless communication, ensuring synchronized operation.
- Trail Locos send their status data back to the Lead Loco for monitoring.
- 4G GSM module transmits operational data to a web server, enabling remote monitoring via PC/Laptop.
- Internal Flash Memory stores operational data for analysis, incident review, and Loco Pilot performance monitoring.
The Driver Interface Unit (DIU), located in each cab, provides a TFT LCD display, a 22-key keypad, and three pushbuttons for NSN Control, Panto Control, and Emergency functions.
